| Rice Fling
In Italy, to wish fertility and prosperity to married couples, soon after the ceremony, they fling rice.Perhaps, this tradition comes from an ancient Greek ritual, according to which, to gain the favour of fertility, some rice sweets were launched on the couple.
This custom is also present in Indonesia, where soon after wedding, they launch rice to keep husband's soul that, otherwise, would fly away.
A Chinese legend tells that, far ago, a severe famine hit the country and that,Good Genius, looking at the farmers'sufferings, sacrificed all his teeth, spreading them in the marsh.
Water changed them into seeds from which, thousands of small rice plants sprouted: so, from then on, where there is rice, there is also abundance so, rice fling, on married couples, is symbol of love and fertility.
